Since Dorothy works from home and Will didn't have his first yoga appointment until 9:30am, it was a relaxed non-rushed start to the day. It was after 10:00am before Dorothy and I set out on the pleasant 15 minute walk down to the Post Office where we each had a parcel to send. Along the way we passed the site of next year's US Olympic Track and Field Team selection trials, which apparently are almost a mini Olympics in themselves with tickets to some events selling out well in advance. The Post Office, it turned out, is actually just a counter in a combined Pharmacy / Hardware / Newsagent / Novelty / Two Dollar Shop - gee, who needs a whole mall?

Reflections, at the Oregon University |
With the postal transactions out of the way I set off to do a circuit of the riverside walking trail. It is probably about a 4 to 5 mile loop if you make no detours, though of course I did. It was a beautiful sunny day, not too hot, with some great photo worthy scenery and I was thinking - "Gee, I gave up sitting at a desk tapping on a keyboard for this?". :-)
After completing the big loop, and exploring the downtown area on the way, I walked back up the hill to Dorothy & Will's house to rest my weary feet. After a quiet late afternoon to catch up on emails etc, Will, Dorothy, Sebastian and I went out for a very nice dinner at a local Thai restaurant. Back at home Dorothy and I had a little nostalgia trip as we went through my photos of Thailand and Burma, the trip on which we met in late 1987. Afterwards there was more nostalgia, or sorts, as we watched the "original" Star Wars movie (Episode IV) - which is probably marginally less corny than Episode III.
Before bed I went out for another walk to take some night photos of a glass building in the local university that is surrounded by a reflection pool. It will be interesting to see how they have turned out once I get to look at them on a full sized screen.
